La Catrina



La Catrina
Su origen viene de un grabado por el caricaturista mexicano Jose Guadalupe Posada llamado " Calavera Garbancera." 
Jose Guadalupe  hacia una critica a los mexicanos que pretendían ser europeos  cuando corria sangre indígena en sus venas.  El pintor Diego Rivera le dio su atuendo en su obra "Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central" y también su actual nombre "La catrina"
Actualmente forma parte de la cultura mexicana y es la imagen principal en el Dia de los Muertos celebrado el 2 de Noviembre.

It was created as a caricature by the mexican artist Jose Guadalupe Posada. The original name was "Calavera Garbancera"
Jose Guadalupe criticized the mexican society whom pretending to be Europeans when indigenous blood ran through their veins. 
Diego Rivera, the famous mexican painter, gave her outfit as well as her new name " La Catrina " in his mural "Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central" 
Nowadays, la catrina is part of the mexican culture and the primary figure in the Day of the Dead, celebrated November 2nd.
